Zero Carbon Buildings
We are committed to developing true zero carbon housing that competes with traditional housing in cost.
TWIN HOUSE
We have obtained planning permission to build 2 exemplary eco houses in Kent. As government definitions for zero carbon slip, our aim for these houses is a true zero carbon design or carbon negative design. The key aim with the houses is to create buildings that embody carbon in the structural fabric, avoiding the use of concrete and steel. Secondly, using a combination of solar panels and passive house technology, generate more energy than they use during their lifetime.
PASSIVE HOUSE
passive house in South East England. The challenge here was to integrate passive house technology and design principles whilst maintaining an environment within which it is a joy to live. Advance timber frame construction with charred timber cladding allowed for lightweight structure engineered to provide vaulted ceiling above open plan living space. Completed 2018
A HOUSE FOR A CARPENTER
House made from 100% timber mixing elements of traditional green oak pegged and tenoned framing with modern advanced framing or pines and engineered timber elements. These techniques allow for a large open plan spaces without the need for steel or concrete reinforcement. Aside from nails and the stair stringers there is no steel or joist hangers in the structure of the building.
